About Us

We are a non-profit making, community run group, managed by a committee of parents/volunteers.

Rushwick Pre-School is a purpose built, mobile building situated in the grounds of Rushwick Primary School.  Considerable fund-raising efforts are taking place to enable the construction of a new building.  The unit and its equipment belongs to the members of Rushwick Pre-School.  All parents of children automatically become members of the Pre-School, with the opportunity to become members of the management and fund-raising committees if they wish.

We are registered with Ofsted under the 1989 Children Act and can accommodate up to 22 children, from age 2 years 9 months to 4 years old, per session.

Our Aims

To enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a community based group involving parents and carers.

To provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

To work closely with Rushwick Primary School, ensuring that the transition to statutory education is as uneventful as possible for the child and his/her family.

To work within a framework which ensures quality of opportunity for all children and families.

Little Learners

The Little Learners group focuson supporting your child’s physical, personal, social and emotional development and communication / language development. We strongly believe the best way for children of this age is to learn through play.

Your child’s key worker will plan a variety of weekly activities to support your child’s individualdevelopmental needs and will track their progress on tapestry (with parental permission). Children are also given a lot of time for free flow play to explore the environment and develop their own interests.

To keep you up to date you will receive a termly newsletter informing you of the themes which they will be learning about at the start of each new term.

The Rising Fours
In the Rising 4’s we will support your child’s development and focus on all the areas covered in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) ensuring your child has a smoother transition into school. We will help your child to concentrate and focus on activities for longer, encourage your child to ‘have a go’ at new activities independently. We will also teach the skills that will help them when starting school such as dressing and toileting independently and recognising their own name etc. Each child has their own designated ‘key worker’ who will plan a variety of weekly activities to support each individual child’s area of development and track their progress on tapestry (with parental permission). Children will also get time for free flow play to explore and develop their own interests. To keep you up to date you will receive termly newsletters informing you of the themes that the Rising 4’s will be learning about.
Wrap around care
This is for children who attend Rushwick Pre-School. Parents can leave children from 8:00am before Pre-school starts its focused activities at 8:50am and collect children up to 6.00pm after Pre-School finishes at 3:20pm. The emphasis on this wrap around care will be on having fun, relaxing and playing together.
