At preschool we follow a healthy eating policy and aim to provide a balanced diet for the children. We provide healthy snacks each day. This is generally a carbohydrate snack in the morning (such as wholemeal toast) and fruit or vegetables in the afternoon. Children are free to come and eat when they are ready in line with our “free flow” policy. If they do not like the snack on offer we will find an alternative that they like. All allergies will be catered for.

Lunch Boxes

Please provide a lunch box from home if your child is staying for lunch. We would be grateful if an ice pack was included to keep food cool, and that the contents of lunch boxes are in keeping with our “Healthy Eating Policy”. Please do not include nuts in lunch boxes.

Lunch Box Ideas

If you are stuck for ideas for lunch boxes, here are a few suggestions to help:

  • Sandwich e.g. jam, cheese & tomato, ham, marmite, tuna, egg.
  • Wrap
  • Pasta salad
  • Crackers with cheese triangles
  • Breadstick / cracker “dunker” pots
  • Couscous
  • Fruit bars
  • Fruit, dried or fresh (if grapes are being sent in please cut these length ways in half)
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Cheese sticks
  • Yogurts
  • Rice cakes
